When we were working on our homes we tried to put ourselves in our guests shoes and wanted to try to think of anything we would need at the beach for a week (or longer) that could come in handy. Whether you are coming from Wisconsin, New York, California, or up the street, we wanted to make it as easy as possible for you.
Here are some basic things that both properties have -
Full Kitchen - (refrigerator, dishwasher, range with oven, toaster, microwave, blender, etc.)
Laundry room - Washer/Dryer - no iron or ironing board
Central HVAC
Cable and High Speed Internet and wifi
Pack n play for infants and toddlers & a high chair
Beach Canopy and beach chairs for the beach as well as a beach wagon and cooler
Fresh set of towels for all guests as well as beach towels for all guests.
6 Seater "Street Legal" Golf Cart
Our cleaning team tries to set you up with just enough to start your week between a trash bag, a couple laundry detergent pods, some dishwasher detergent, a bar of soap in every bathroom, a roll of toilet paper in each, as well as a dish towel and a roll of paper towels in the kitchen. We hope this helps get you going so you have some before you go to the store!
The Pool Heater is set to 84/85 degrees (for the winter months, and off during the summer months) and heats the pool when the pool system is running from 8 to 10ish (or longer) every day. When it’s not running the pool heater will turn off and then have to reheat it for the next day. Usually during the late spring and summer months we don’t need to run it because it is warm enough outside and most of our guests want to get into a pool that is refreshing after a day at the beach.
As a Floridian, we understand that things come up in life, especially during "Hurricane Season" every year. No one wants your vacation to be cancelled due to these factors, but things happen. It may be something else, but as a small business owner we 100% recommend getting trip/travel insurance to make sure that no matter what life throws at you, you are covered for your trip, if you can make it or not. It definitely can give you peace of mind, if a storm was to come through and you were not able to travel, or we were not able to host you. With that being said, if we do get a storm to come through, we do not issue refunds. This also falls in line with major travel organizations such as Airbnb and VRBO. Before you book anything, with us or someone else, please educate yourself on this process and how it can benefit you and your vacation. We want you to come stay with us, but we also want you to be covered as well.
On Anna Maria Island, and in the municipality of Holmes Beach, we are required to have a Vacation Rental Certificate in order to be able to rent our homes to guests. Because of that, both of our properties have a minimum rental period of 7 nights, as that is what our properties are zoned for. You can certainly rent for a longer period of time, but 7 days is our minimum. Also, depending upon what our calendar looks like, we try to rent Saturday to Saturday, but can definitely discuss a different day if needed.
Since we are on an island, not far! Both properties are about a 4-5 minute walk, or a 30 second drive with the golf cart. The two beach access streets we use are 65th St. and 68th Street, and both have parking as well as golf cart marked parking (68th Street only). Of course, with the golf carts you can go to any beach access you want as well!
While the golf cart is a-lot of fun and does have a great range to take you all around the northern part of the island and a little further past Walgreens, we think it is always important to have another form of transportation. You can take your rental car off the island, as well as further south to Longboat Key, St. Armands Circle, etc.
In our opinion, it is much easier (and closer) to fly into Sarasota Bradenton Airport. On a normal day its about a 25-30 minute drive from the airport to get to our home from SRQ. With that being said, TPA definitely has more flight options and may be a more cost effective airport to fly into. It is a little further of a drive though, that is roughly about an hour or so, depending on traffic.
Both of our properties are away from the "main" roads that are on the island, but even they are 2 lane roads with a maximum speed limit of 25 mph (island wide). Most people are there are a vacation so things usually are relaxed and most people are either at the beach or enjoying a little pool time. We always ask our guests to be respectful to everyone around them. The city of Holmes Beach even has us put a quote on all marketing that enforces this policy -
"You are vacationing in a residential area. Please be a good neighbor by keeping the noise to a respectful level during the day and night. Excessive and unreasonable noise can deprive neighbors of the peaceful enjoyment of their private property." VRC20-000100
